MY WORK DRAWS ON MEMORIES OF THE NATURAL
ENVIRONMENT SURROUNDING MY HOME IN RURAL
NORTHERN IRELAND.
I grew up in a farmhouse built in the 1800s, surrounded by a wild garden and stone barns. Each year, swifts, swallows and house martins would migrate from South Africa to the same barn, their annual arrival has inspired my latest body of work 'Where Birds Cast Shadows'.
A bird’s journey, like ours, is fuelled by a sense of belonging and an instinct to return home.
